You may find many kinds of yarns available in the market, I would say it all depends on how you want your final products be and also depends on your budget.
For normal amigurumi, I usually use the acrylic series and do it with a mixture of colours to make it look more attractive. If you are crocheting for babies or people with sensitive skins, bamboo series will be a better choice as it is less sensitive to babies' skin and more comfortable to wear. Bamboo series are suitable to make scarf, cardigan, sweater and clothing.
